William Howard Jones

William “Bill” Howard Jones, Jr., of Harrogate, TN, passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 88.

He was born on May 16, 1937 and attended Ellen Myers Elementary School and was a graduate of Powell Valley High School. He was a member of Harrogate Methodist Church.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather whose life was rooted in family, hard work and service to his community. He was a co- owner of Jones Lumber Company and Trucking Business, where his strong work ethic and dedication were evident throughout his career. In addition to his business endeavors, he was a proud member of the Shawanee Masonic Lodge. Bill served as a Claiborne County Commissioner and worked tirelessly for the betterment of his community. Outside of work and public service, he found great joy in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, camping and boating; he treasured the time spent with family and friends on those adventures. Bill was also an avid and lifelong fan of the Tennessee Volunteers, faithfully cheering them on through every season.

He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty- eight years, Agnes “Bozzy” Jones; three children, Vickie (Randall) Cowan of Harrogate, Linda (Steve) Bostic of Knoxville; and Howard Jones of Hendersonville; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Amanda) Cowan, Andrea (Wesley) Miracle, Katelyn Bayless, Daniel Jones, Jesse Bostic and Jared Bostic; and two great grandchildren, Wyatt Miracle and Whitley Miracle. Bill is further survived by a host of nieces and nephews whom he adored, and many great nieces and great nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, William Howard Jones and Bernetta Good Jones; beloved sisters, Ruth (Walter) Dunn, Anna Mae (Whitt) Welch, Bobby (James) Comparoni, Opal (C.J.) Simmons and Martha (Roy) Mayes; and daughter in law, Debbie Miller Jones.

Graveside services will be held at Harrogate Cemetery, on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 1:00PM, with Reverend Wesley Miracle officiating. All family and friends are welcome to attend. A procession to Harrogate Cemetery will depart Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel at approximately 12:50 PM.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held ,at a later date, to be announced.
