Walter Haase

Walter John Haase, Jr., age 68, was born May 21, 1947 and passed away on March 10, 2016. He was preceded in death by parents - Walter John & Mildred Mattera. He was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church, New Tazewell, a Vietnam Veteran, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include wife - Judy Woolum Haase of Powell Valley, daughters - Karen (& David) Harlow, Susan (& James) Perry, Amy (& Curtis) Lindsey, all of Nashville, Angela (& Connie) Slusher of Covington KY, Jan (& Bart) Wager of Fairfax Station VA, Wanda (& Doug) Johnson of Barbourville KY, and Billie J (& David) Brassfield of Corbin KY and son - Eric (& Trisha) Irvin of Powell Valley, brothers - Charles (& Barbara) Haase, Paul (& Mary Ellen) Mattera, and Mark Mattera, sisters - Rachel (& George) Kreppein, all of Long Island NY, and Nancy Scardino Rodriguez of Boynton Beach FL, 15 grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, cousins, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation 5-7 PM Wednesday March 16 at Reece Funeral Home & Valley Chapel Harrogate, TN. At 7 PM there will be a prayer service and sharing about his life. Mass will take place 9 AM Thursday morning at Christ the King Catholic Church, Tazewell, TN. Father Mike Creson, Father Charlie Burton, & Father Joe Campbell officiating. Music will be provided by the church. Family and friends will meet at 1:30 PM Thursday at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Hwy., Knoxville, TN for the burial. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Full military honors will be provided by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
