Vondetta Lynn "Vonda" Brock

Feb 12, 1954 — Jul 2, 2026

Pineville

Vondetta Lynn "Vonda" Brock passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on July 2, 2026, at the age of 72. She was born on February 12, 1954, and spent her life bringing joy to others through her faith, her family, her cooking, and her unmistakable laughter.

For 53 wonderful years, Vonda shared a life of love and devotion with her husband, Larry Brock. Through every season of life, Larry was faithfully by her side—a constant source of love, strength, and companionship.

Vonda was preceded in death by her parents, Ottas Hurley and Martha Hurley (Hall).

She is survived by her beloved husband, Larry Brock; her son, Stefen Brock (Steve); her daughter, Felicia Grubbs (Gary); her sister, Delores Goss; her grandchildren, Quentin (Victoria), Quincy (Gracie), and Mckenzie; her treasured great-grandchildren, Caleb and Emily; and her special friends, Melissa Hoskins Caldwell and Louise Brock.

Vonda's faith was the foundation of her life. She believed that loving others, extending grace, and living in peace with everyone was one of the greatest ways to reflect Christ. She found joy in seeing the good in people and welcomed everyone with warmth, kindness, and an open heart.

If there was one place Vonda expressed love best, it was in her kitchen. She was always searching for a new recipe to try, excited to share her latest creation with family and friends. Cooking was one of her greatest joys, and few could resist her famous meatloaf, salmon patties with fried potatoes, or an egg sandwich made just the way you liked it. She never forgot the little things that made her family smile, including making a special pan of homemade macaroni and cheese just for Stefen. Every meal she prepared carried something extra that couldn't be found in a recipe—a generous serving of love.

She also delighted in life's simple pleasures. She loved spending the day yard-saling with Stefen and Felicia, clipping coupons, and finding bargains that others had overlooked. To Vonda, every great deal came with a story, and every outing was another opportunity to laugh together. She had a way of seeing worth where others might not—whether in a treasured find at a yard sale or in the people whose lives she touched.

Her laughter was contagious, and her stories were unforgettable. She looked forward to talking with Stefen and Felicia on the phone each and every day, catching up on life's little moments and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. She loved spending time with family and friends, reminiscing, telling stories, and making everyone around her feel welcome. She had a special way of turning strangers into friends and friends into family, leaving every conversation a little brighter than she found it.

The words of Hebrews 12:14 beautifully reflect the life Vonda lived: "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." (KJV). Vonda truly lived in peace with everyone. Her faith was evident not only in her words, but in the compassion, hospitality, and generosity she showed every day. She welcomed others with an open heart and reflected Christ's love in the way she cared for everyone she met.

Though her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing that the faith she held so dearly has become sight. Her legacy lives on in every family meal shared, every story retold, every laugh remembered, and every act of kindness inspired by the example she set.
