Vonda Maxine Brooks

Vonda Maxine Brooks, 85, of Harrogate, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at her home. She was born on March 20, 1940, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Neal and Gladys Gilpin Surber. Maxine was a Private Care Giver, helping many people and their families through the years. She was also a member of the Big Springs Union Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Brooks; daughter, Brenda Gail Brooks Cloninger; and brother, Hershel “Buck” Surber.

Survivors include her cousins, Darlene Gilpin and Lois Dean; brother-in-law, Jimmy Brooks and wife, Kaye; and many special care givers of her own, other relatives and friends.

Private Cremation Services were cared for at the Arnett & Steele Cremation Center. The Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel in Harrogate was honored to serve the family and friends of Maxine Brooks.
