Vivian Ovatt, age 89, went to heaven, on May 12th, 2019 in Asheboro, NC, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 10th, 1929, in Wasioto, KY to Cogar and Amanda Brooks. She was the beloved wife of Carl Ovatt, her only love of 60 years who preceded her in death in 2006. She was a devoted and caring mother of Linda Reynolds, her only child, who married Phil Reynolds in 1996. Their marriage added another granddaughter and her husband plus four more great grandchildren to the family. She was an inspiring and loving grandmother to 3 grandchildren and great grandmother to 8 great grandchildren She was the proud wife of a retired Sergeant Major with the 101st Airborne Division, which gave her the opportunity to travel extensively. She worked at ABA Industries retiring after 18 years. After their retirement, they lived in St Petersburg, FL for 30 years. After the death of her husband she moved to Randleman, NC in 2010, residing with her family. There she met many new friends while attending Providence Friends Meeting with her daughter and son-in-law. She loved her family and enjoyed all the time spent with them Preceded in Death by husband Carl Ovatt. mother and father, Cogar and Amanda Brooks. Sisters Delia Brooks, Barbara Disney, and Ruby Jackson. She was survived by daughter Linda Reynolds and her husband Phil Reynolds, brother Bruce(Bonnie)Brooks, sister Cecile Brown, grandchildren Eddie(Rhonda) Brown, Randy(Julie) Brown, Sherrie Thorpe and her husband Jay Thorpe, great grandchildren Bailey, Chloe, Brooks, Ellis, Jayson, Weslee, Harrison and Addison. The family will receive guests Saturday, May 18 at 1:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00PM, held at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Pineville which is honored to be serving the Ovatt Family.
