Virginia Goodin Brown

Virginia Goodin Brown, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Bell County on November 16, 1920 a daughter of the late James and Sydney Rains Goodin. Virginia had been a member of East Jellico Baptist Church since 1933. She had worked in the State Park System for several years at both Cumberland Falls and Pine Mountain State Park. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Brown; daughter, Priscilla Lester and granddaughter, April Michelle Woods. Survivors include her daughter, Peggy (Marcellus) Woods of Pineville; grandchildren, Beverly (David) Gilpin of Knoxville, TN; Kim (Bill) Halbert of Knoxville; Mark (Teresa) Lester of Frankfort; great-grandchildren, Blake Saylor; Madison (Bart) Short; Cody Saylor and Robyn Halbert; sister, Geneva Stout of Evarts and a special care taker, Malinda Brock. Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jack Smith and Rev. Robert Hughes. Music will be by Evylene Goodin and Georgeanne McGaffee. Burial will be in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Blake Saylor, Cody Saylor, Bart Short, Mark Lester, Bill Bailey and Bill Woods. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 PM Friday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Brown Family.
