Virgie Smith

Virgie Smith, 91 of Arjay, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022, at her home. She was born in Blanche on July 4, 1931, a daughter of Albert and Myrtle Jones Hensley. Virgie was a member of the Arjay Community Pentecostal Church and had been a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Riley Smith; children, Jimmy Ray Smith, Dairl Hensley, Geraldine and Melvin Beverly; grandchildren, Jimmy and Darlene Smith, Jody Ray Smith, Buffy Smith, and Berniece Grubb; siblings, Leroy Hensley, Daniel Hensley, Margie Gambrel, Arnold Hensley, Bobby Hensley, Eugene Hensley, and Charles Hensley.

Virgie is survived by her daughters, Peggy and Ed Hoskins and Sheila and Lonnie Lewis; daughter-in-law, Angie Hensley; brother, Don Ray and Janice Hensley; grandchildren, Randall and Elizabeth Beverly, Toby Beverly, Kyler Lewis, April Rose, and Bobby Darrell Hensley; great-grandchildren, Caleb Beverly, Hannah Beverly, Emily Beverly, Danielle Beverly, Peyton Beverly, and Melvin Landon Beverly; special friend, Lynn Wagner; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Arjay Community Pentecostal Church with Rev. Phillip Jackson, Rev. Van Johnson and Rev. Gary Wagner presiding. Music will be provided by the Arjay Community Pentecostal Church Singers. Burial will follow at the Big Jim Cemetery in Arjay.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 PM until the funeral hour at the Arjay Community Pentecostal Church.
