Vernon Lawson, 87, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Stoney Fork, Kentucky on April 24, 1934, a son of the late Garfield and Bertha Brock Lawson. He had been a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and had driven a truck for the coal mines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Johnson Lawson; stepson, Kenneth Ray Loudermilk; and a host of brothers and sisters. Vernon is survived by his daughter, Alice Loudermilk; son, Vernon Bishop Lawson; grandchildren, Megan Evans and Cameron Lawson; great-grandchildren, Olivia Bailey and Brooklyn Evans; special caregiver, Angie Lingar; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Mill Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Sanders presiding. Music will be provided by Mickey Wilder and Rufus. Burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro. Pallbearers will be Chad Evans, Bobby Brummett, Jeremy Sanders, Eulas Lingar, Eulas Lingar, Jr. and Kyle Lingar. Special thanks of appreciation to Hospice for their care and compassion. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour at the Mill Creek Baptist Church.
