Verda Mae Overton

Mrs. Verda Mae Overton, age 78 of Speedwell, TN was born September 8, 1944 and passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at The Heritage Center in LaFollette. Verda was a Christian and was kind to everyone she met. She was Mom of two and Nanny to numerous kids including her two grandsons and many other kids too many to count.  She loved her family and loved to visit and talk with them all. She loved kids and they loved her.  She enjoyed watching them grow to adults and succeeding in life. Verda had a green thumb and loved her flowers.  She loved to read and would read all different types of books.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mae Harmon. She was also preceded in death by brothers W.F. Harmon, Jack Harmon, Roy Harmon, Oscar Harmon, Ernest Harmon, Joseph Harmon, George Harmon, Doyle Harmon, and by sisters Evola Harmon and Helen Holloway.

She is survived by son Lee Overton and grandsons Joshua and Luke Overton all of Knoxville, daughter Dawn Rigsby and son-in-law Scott Rigsby of Franklin, Indiana. She is also survived by brothers Paul Harmon of LaFollette, Tennessee and Dean Harmon of Speedwell, Tennessee. Surviving sisters are Ruby Pierce and June Mabe both of Speedwell, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 14, 2022 from 5PM until 7PM with funeral services to follow at 7PM in the Arnett & Steele Valle Chapel with Rev. Travis Dunn officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11AM in the Harmon Cemetery.
