Ulys Mayes

Ulys 'Doc' Mayes, age 86, of Speedwell, TN., passed away January 4, 2007 at Middlesboro Hospital.

He was a member of Powell Valley Church of Christ and a veteran of WW II.

Preceded in death by parents, Richard and Dana Shelton Mayes; brothers, Sherman, Virgil, Carl and 2 infant brothers; sisters, Ethel Mayes and Nell Marsee.

Survivors, wife, Lula McNew Mayes;

sons, Larry Mayes of Chapel Hill, NC and Daryl Mayes of Ringgold, GA.;

sister, Viola Jones of Knoxville, TN.;

2 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Reece Valley Chapel with Minister Jim Callahan & Roy McNew officiating.

Burial in the McNew Cemetery.

Pallbearers - Damon Price, Ulis Price, William Horton, David Underwood, Wayne McCreary, Wayne McNew.

Honorary pallbearers - Charlie Robertson, Albert Chumley, David Robertson and Ernest Shiflet.
