Tommy Lorraine Asher

Tommy Lorraine Asher, 81 of Pineville, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Buchanon Place Health and Rehabilitation in New Tazewell with his loving family by his side. He was born in Straight Creek on March 18, 1944, a son of the late Eldon and Helen Brock Asher. Tommy had been a member of the First Christian Church of Pineville. He had been a Deep Miner, Construction Worker, House Painter, Police Officer for the Pineville City Police Department, and a Sheriff’s Deputy for the Bell County Sheriff’s Department. Tommy was an antique collector and he did restorations.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Carnes and Irene Goodin.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Virginia Sams Asher; daughters, Grace Asher, Barbara (Chuck) Wilson, Michelle (William) Morgan, and Lori (Neil) Thiesing; brother, Eldon and Margie Asher, Jr.; sisters, Evelyn Lucille “Jeanie” Stewart, Amelia Joyce “Midge” Asher, and Norma Saylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the First Christian Church of Pineville with Rev. Jerry Combs and Elder Mike Crockett presiding. Music will be provided by Mitchell Williams and Ginny Fraley. Burial will follow at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro. Pallbearers will be Rick Fuson, Mike “Milo” Brock, Chuck Wilson, Lee Warren, Eldon Brian “EB” Asher, Brian Allen, and Lee Warren, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles “Jr” Partin, Randall Partin, Eldon Asher, Jr., and Elizabeth Gilley.

The family will receive on Friday from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at the First Christian Church of Pineville.
