Thomas Hugh Logan

December 15, 1949 — October 3, 2017

IN LOVING MEMORY Thomas Hugh Logan, 67, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2017 at his home in Evarts, Kentucky. He was born in Harlan, Kentucky on December 15, 1949 to Goldie and Luther Logan. His siblings included Wayne Logan (deceased), Jerry Logan (deceased), Mike Logan, and JoAnn Logan. Thomas, best known as "Tommy" and "Pop" by his family, lived an exceedingly wonderful life. He married the love of his life, his sweetheart, Virginia "Ginny" Logan on February 26, 1972 in Evarts, Kentucky where they lived together and raised two children: Tara and Thomas Logan. His life was further enriched by their pet terrier DD. "Pop" leaves behind a devoted legacy that will survive a multitude of generations. Early in his life, he had three simple wishes: "a roof that doesn't leak, never have to build a fire again, and to fall in love and marry a beautiful woman." He was a storyteller, a magician, a self-taught engineer, a poet, a problem-solver, a dreamer, a fierce MMA fighter long before the sport even existed, a true purveyor of knowledge, and a fearless, compassionate leader of the Logan family. He strived to be a culinary genius and succeeded. He loved challenges, brain-teaser puzzles, riddles, and solving mysteries. He possessed a beautiful, intellectual mind and encouraged others to think critically and creatively never accepting mediocrity. His grandchildren: Haylie Logan, Marissa Logan, Dylan Logan, and Jackson Logan remember his warm, affectionate smiles, hugs and infectious laugh. He was kind, gentle and always made each grandchild feel so very special for their unique qualities; never judging and always accepting. He exemplified unconditional love through his genuine gestures of affection - the unexpected notes he would leave his sweetheart Ginny, and the handwritten mementos to family. Private services will be held with family members. Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Logan Family.
