Thermond Paul Shepherd, Sr.

Thermond Paul Shepherd, Sr., 84 of Pineville, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Tri-State Manor in Harrogate. He was born on October 24, 1936 in Beverly, a son of the late John William and Ida Mae Bryant Shepherd. Paul had been raised by the late Ceph and Leona Napier Lawson. He had been a coal miner for the Eastover Mining Company. In addition to both sets of his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Rutherford Shepherd; brothers, Tex Lawson, Ernest Shepherd, Willard Shepherd, Hobart Shepherd and Arthur Shepherd; and sisters, Geraldine Lawson, Thelma Sizemore, Edna Shepherd, Mary Stewart, and Cleda Rice. Paul is survived by his children, Rickie Shepherd of Elizabethtown, Steven Shepherd and wife, Marie of Pineville, Mary Willis and husband, Vernon of Pineville, Paul Shepherd and wife, Debbie of Pineville, Jerry Shepherd and wife, Rebecca of Harrogate; grandchildren, Jennifer Swiney, Jessica Shepherd, Jamie Shepherd, Natasha Brock and husband, Shawn, Mitchel Willis and wife, Caddy, Elizabeth Neal and husband, Allen, Taylor Shepherd, Nathan Shepherd, and Aleah Shepherd; great-grandchildren, Logan Brock, Sawyer Brock, Kennedy Brock, Benjamin Brock, Kyleigh Willis, and Madison Willis; sister, Chesney Branham; brother, Shirley Lawson and wife, Nora; sister-in-law, Emma Jean Shepherd; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. John Neal presiding. Burial will follow at the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Shepherd Family.
