Terry Lynn Brooks, age 68, a lifelong resident of Harrogate, passed away Tuesday, March 4th at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN after a brief illness. Terry was born on November 1st, 1956 to Buford and Vernice Brooks. He was a lifelong member of Pump Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vernice Brooks; brother, Dale Brooks; and his father and mother-in-law; Delbert and Evelyn Brooks.
Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 46 years, Rosanne Brooks; daughter,
Tracy Brooks Longhurst; son, Barry Allen Brooks; father, Buford Brooks; sister, Anita Brooks; brother, David Brooks; sisters and brothers-in-law, Valerie (Jeff) Roach and Cindy Crockett (Doug); nephews, Justin Brooks, Corey Brooks, Javan (Beth) Crockett and children. Terry is also survived by his beloved furbaby, Miles.
Terry was a graduate of Forge Ridge High School, where he played a mean game of basketball and passed that love and talent down to both Tracy and Barry. He loved attending their games and was their biggest fan. He was called “Daddyman” by Tracy when she was little, and the family affectionately made this his nickname. Driving a delivery van for Warren P. Rash allowed him to make many friends as he traveled across the tri-state area. He currently worked at H.T. Hackney, where he leaves friends who will miss him dearly. Terry was a master of all things that needed fixing, he could always figure it out. He was unselfish, helping anyone who needed anything, always having the time and never complaining. He was the family’s quiet, silent strength and was always there when they needed him. Terry was a kind, gentle, soul who loved the simple things in life. While he went on many vacations with his family, he was also content sitting on the couch with a crossword puzzle and a cold Mountain Dew. He had a love/hate relationship with his favorite team, the TN Vols. He always cheered for them but sometimes had to leave the room shaking his head. He had a quiet demeanor and never said anything negative about anyone. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Claiborne County Animal Shelter or the American Heart Association in his honor.
