Tennie Aris Carpenter Ballew, age 95, of Harrogate, left our world June 23rd, 2012 at Claiborne County Hospital, to be with her family and friends. She was born on July 5, 1916, to George A. and Rhoda Carpenter of Tallassee, TN. She was a lifelong Baptist, with an avid love of her family, gardening, travel and music. Her life touched six generations, with over fifty descendants who were devoted to her.

She was preceded in death by Press Lee Ballew, her husband of over 51 years, her youngest daughter, Gail (Porter) Massengill, seven step-children: Edgar (Ruby) Ballew, Nellie (Tasker) Foster, Jim (Mildred) Ballew, William Harve (Faye) Bellew, Grady (Louise) Ballew, Wayne (Thelma) Ballew, and Blayne (Retha) Ballew. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

She is survived by a brother, Roy (Ella) Carpenter, two sisters, Laurie and Mary, her step-daughter, Helen (Paxton) Rogers, of Blairsville, GA, daughter Sherry (James) Fuller, of Spring, TX, Earl (Marie) Ballew of Hamilton, OH, Grace Sharp, of Tazewell, Roger (Karen) Ballew, of Bloomfield, IN, Carol (James) Lawson, of Tazewell, Clarence (Kathleen) Ballew, of Dillsboro, IN, Retha (James) Bolton, of Hixson, TN, and a multitude of friends and descendants, including one great great great grandson.

Funeral service June 25, 2012, at 7:00pm, at Reece Funeral Home in Harrogate. Rev. Kojak Graves officiating, and music provided by Vic and Vic Jr., Graves.

Although she lived almost ninety-six years, it wasn't enough, and she is sadly missed by family and friends. She will remain in our hearts forever.
