Stella Brock Gambrel

Stella Gambrel age 81, of Flat Lick, was born on May 16, 1934 in Bell County, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Dewey Brock and Martha Jane Saylor Brock. Mrs. Gambrel died Friday, August 14, 2015 in the Pineville Community Hospital. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church at Bailey Switch and was a homemaker. On March 10, 1956, she united in marriage to S.B. Gambrel and to this union two daughters and a son were born. Along with her parents, Mrs. Gambrel was preceded in death by; sisters, Gladys Brock, Cordie Saylor, Reva Mills; two brothers; Walter Brock and Custer Brock, and a step-sister, Catherine Neil. Mrs. Gambrel is survived by her beloved husband, S.B. Gambrel of Flat Lick; her daughters; Judy Bargo and husband, Rev. James Bargo of Gray, Kentucky; Cathy Beverly and husband,Doug of Gray, Kentucky; her son; Bobby Ray Gambrel and wife, Donna of Possum Hollow, Flat Lick, Kentucky; sisters; Bertha Napier of Pineville, Kentucky; and Pat Sumter of Pleasant Plain, Ohio; her brother; Elijah Brock of Dry Fork Kentucky; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and many other dear relatives and friend to mourn her passing. Funeral Services for Stella Gambrel will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Paul Frederick and Rev. Danny Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Carnes Cemetery at Turkey Creek in Knox County, Kentucky, with Silas Bargo, Jeremy Gambrel, Jarrod Gambrel, Brandon Jackson, David Broughton, roger Mills, Randall Williamson and Larry Williamson serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mrs. Gambrel's church family at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Dr. Steven Morgan, James Eddie Smith, Kenneth Carnes, James Polly and wife, Theda and all neighbors and friends of the Gambrel Family. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Monday after 6:00 pm and Tuesday after 11:00 am until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
