Sophia Edna Longworth

Mrs. Sophia Edna Longworth, age 89 of Harrogate, TN was born June 22, 1932 in Cubbage, KY and passed away peacefully Thursday, May 19, 2022 at her home. She was saved in her 20’s and was a member of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years then most recent, she became a member of First Baptist Church of Harrogate. Sophia was a very active member of her church and her community. She volunteered at Tri State Health and Rehab for 19 years. Sophia was also a very loving person to all of her family as she made sure that if someone came to her home, there was food cooked and waiting for them. She loved reading her Bible, listening to gospel music and she was always ready to travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H.B. and Lucretia “Creasy” Hensley; husband, Wiley Longworth, Jr. and 12 older siblings.

She is survived by her children, Linda Weaver and husband Robert, Doug Longworth and wife Karen, Donnie Longworth and wife Janie, Danny Longworth and wife Blenda, Linda Jones and husband Andy; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Caldwell and Janice Short; special friend and caretaker, Barbara Hatfield; lifelong friends, Genice Cosby and Lois Mize; special nurses that took excellent care of Sophia, Chasity Goins, Michaela Edds and Jackie Wilkinson. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of other loving family members and friends

The family will receive friends Monday, May 23, 2022 from 5PM until 8PM with funeral services to follow at 8PM in the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel with Rev. Michael Padgett and Rev. Kim Collinsworth officiating. Music will be provided by Mitchell and Rachel Cosby, Jeremy Wilson, Lois Mize and Kris Patterson. Graveside services will be conducted 1PM Tuesday, May 24, 2022 in the Cosby-Poplar Grove Cemetery.
