Shirley Marie Smith

Shirley Marie Broughton Smith, 65 of Pineville, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington. She was born on October 9, 1956, a daughter of the late Garrett and Lillie Slusher Broughton. Shirley had been a transcriptionist for the Appalachian Regional Hospitals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Wilburn Smith, and her sister, Kathleen Hopkins.

Shirley is survived by her husband Eddie Ray Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Donna Smith; grandsons, Travis Ethan Smith and Matthew Logan Smith; sister, Ruth Sparks; brother Garrett Broughton, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. James Ward and Kathryn Reed presiding. Burial will follow at the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
