Shirley Lawson, 80 of Calvin, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the Pineville Community Health Care. He was born in Red Bird on December 22, 1941, a son of the late Ceph and Leona Napier Lawson. Shirley had been a foreman for Freeman Art Craft.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Tex and Jeanett Lawson; sister, Jeardean Lawson; daughter and son-in-law, Leasea and Kevin Thompson; and son-in-law, Clayton Lawson.
Shirley is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nora Black Lawson; sons and their spouses, J.C. and Sharon Lawson and James and Judy Lawson; daughter, Tammy Lawson; grandchildren, Clayton Lawson Jr. and fiancé, Elizabeth Langley, Wesley Lawson, Jessica Lawson and fiancé Lacy Jones, Jr., Christy Phares and husband, Mike, Heather Hensley and husband, Shawn, Natasha Marcum and husband, Tim, and Cody Lawson; great grandchildren, Julee Fox, Kaitlyn Storms, Jared Storms, Chelsea Hubbard, Andrew Phares, Jazmin Phares, Christopher Lawson, Preston Lawson, Evan Lawson, and Trevor Strudvant; great great granddaughter, Aroura Jade; future great great grandson, Myrin Rice; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. James Roark presiding. Music will be provided by James and Lisa Roark. Burial will follow at the Farley Cemetery in Himyar with his great grandsons serving as pallbearers.
