Shelby Ray Saylor

Shelby Ray Saylor, 86, on Monday, January 20, 2025, Ray passed peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born in Saylor Hollow in a one room cabin on May 10, 1938, moved to Fort Wayne, IN on July 4, 1955, and worked at Dana as a Machinist for 30 years until he retired in 1993. He came home to take care of his mother. Ray enjoyed Nascar and riding his Harley. Loved four-wheeling in the mountains with family and hosting the Saylor family reunions. He returned to Fort Wayne due to sickness in May 2022. Now he comes home to rest below the cabin he was born in.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Rev Johnny and Eliza Jones Saylor, brothers and sisters, Farmer Saylor, Elmer Lawson, Thelma Ciferri, Chesney Brock, Delia Marie Collett and Phoebe Saylor.

He is survived by his sons, David Ray Saylor and his children, Colton David Saylor and Bryce Garrett Saylor; Anthony Lewis Saylor and wife, Trina, and their children, Viola Marie Saylor, Christina Fields, Joseph Ray Saylor, and Alexis Saylor; Doyle Lee Saylor and wife, Tabatha and their children, Shannan Inez Howell, Ashlee Lula Shoemaker, and Heather Ellen Graham; brother, R.J. Saylor; sisters, Myrtle Jean Saylor and Anna Lee Saylor and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

Service will be on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 12 Noon at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel. The burial will be in the Saylor Family Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 25, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 12 Noon.
