McBEE, SHELBY, age 94, son of John Okus and Dessie (Loop) McBee, born 15 May 1913, New Tazewell, TN, expired 6 November 2007, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville, TN. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 57 years, Druella (Harmon) McBee, brothers Edgar Willard and Henry Wade McBee, sister Dorothy Jean McBee (Phelps), sisters-in-law Helen Hill McBee and Martha Hurst McBee. Survivors: Sons and daughters-in-law Rudy E. and Carol (Miller) McBee, Knoxville, TN, Sidney R. and Nancy (Scarff) McBee, Powell, TN, and James C. and Leslie (Donat) McBee, Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren: Wendy Lynn McBee and husband Dr. Myron Lyn Exum, Charlotte, NC, Robert Bradford and wife Blair (Waddell) McBee, Silver Creek, GA, Rachel Lynn and husband Joshua Pless, Knoxville, TN, Ryan Curtis McBee, Powell, TN, and Jerald Curtis McBee, Atlanta, GA. Great granddaughters Emily Jane McBee, Silver Creek, GA, Natalie Christine McBee Exum and Samantha Carol McBee Exum, Charlotte, NC; great grandson Brady Ray Pless, Knoxville, TN. Brother-in-law William Paul Phelps, Knoxville, TN. Several nieces and nephews. Special friend Mary Winkler.
Professed faith in Jesus Christ over 60 years ago. Joined Whittle Springs Methodist Church in 1946, transferred to Fountain City United Methodist Church in September 1954 and remained an active and faithful member until death. Longtime member of the Christian Service Sunday School class and more recently, the Fidelity class. Professionally, Mr. McBee taught school in Claiborne County from 1937-1942, then was employed by TVA in Knoxville from April 1942 until he retired in May 1975. He enjoyed beekeeping and genealogy in retirement.
Memorial service 7 PM, 9 November 2007, at Fountain City United Methodist Church, Senior Pastor Jim Whedbee officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM prior to the service. Interment 10:00 AM the following day at Fairview Cemetery, Tazewell, TN, Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel, Harrogate, TN in charge, 423 869 3651, 626 4249, or www.reecefh.com.
