Ruth Leona Stone

Ruth Leona Taylor Stone, 98, was born on December 30, 1915, at Thomas in John's Creek in Pike County, Kentucky and passed away on January 23, 2014, at Tri-State Health and Rehabilitation Center, Harrogate, TN after several years of declining health. She and her husband, Hubbard, resided in the Irondale Community of Birmingham, Alabama from the late 1950's until the mid 1990's. She then moved back to Kentucky for health related reasons. She was a member of Irondale United Methodist Church. Ruth was blessed with a generous, giving spirit and was not satisfied unless she could do something to help someone else. This was reflected in her work of several years as a licensed practical nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubbard Stone; parents James Landon Taylor and Martha Fraley Taylor Bevins; brothers James Elmer Taylor and South Clinton Bevins; and nephew Tom Taylor. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Jim Taylor, John Taylor, and Lisa Bertke all of Chelsea, Michigan; Wade (Missy) Bevins of Middlesboro, KY and Beth (Bill) Duncan of Tazewell, TN, as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews; and the staff and employees of Tri-State Health & Rehab who cared for her these last few years up until her final moments. Services will be at 8:00 PM Friday at the Arnett-Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Duncan. Burial will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at the Grayson Memorial Cemetery, Grayson with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 until the funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the family of Ruth Stone.
