Ruth Patterson

Ruth Smallwood Smith Patterson, 76 of Middlesboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. She was born in Middlesboro on September 2, 1946, a daughter of the late Ance and Mary Cadle Smallwood. Ruth had been a housekeeper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Lee Roy Smith; grandson, David Matthew Smith; the father of her children, Ira Smith; and siblings, Claude Smallwood, Lloyd Smallwood, Ethel Petigo, Arnold Smallwood, and Betty Branham.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Anna Smith; sons, David Smith and wife, Melinda, and Donnie Smith; grandchildren, Teresa, Joshua, Kendra, Danielle, Skylar, Houston, Kaitlyn, Brooklyn, and Bradley; brother, Glen Smallwood; sister, Dorothy Rainy; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home. The family will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Saturday to proceed to the graveside services at the Mountain View Cemetery in Harrogate with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
