Carolyn Farris Carpenter, 59 of Knoxville, formerly of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at her home. She was born in Pineville on November 29, 1949, a daughter of the late E.J. and Lillie McCracken Farris. She was a member of the First Baptist Church-Concord, a Board Certified Psychiatric RPH and a member of the National Board of Pharmacy Specialties. Carolyn was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and the Mercer University-Southern School of Pharmacy. At Mercer she was president of Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, selected for membership in Rho Chi Scholastic Achievement Society, Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society and graduate Summa Cum Laude recipient of the Mercer Scholastic Achievement Award. Carolyn was an avid hiker, a white water enthusiast and photographer. She worked as a Pharmacist with her brother and mother at Farris Drugs in Pineville and later as director of Pharmacy for Peninsula Hospital and Covenant Behavioral Health and currently served her community as a pharmacist with Walgreens. Survivors include her brother, Wayne Farris and his wife Sue of Pineville; nieces, Lisa and husband, Dr. Barry Bingham and Suzanne and husband, Brad Loutsenhizer; nephew, Gregory Farris and wife, Jennifer; great-nieces and great-nephews, Anna Katherine Bingham, Andrew Bingham, Will Farris, Jackson Farris, Adam Loutsenhizer and Alexa Grace Loutsenhizer; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
