Ruby Fern Hensley

Ruby Fern Gambrel Hensley, 89 of Calvin, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the Claiborne Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Knox County, Kentucky on July 10, 1934, the daughter of the late Boyd and Mallie Gambrel of Blanche, Kentucky. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ruby was a member of the Wasioto Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hensley; son, Terry Shannon Hensley; brothers, Bryce Gambrel, Vernon Gambrel, Eugene Gambrel, Leroy Gambrel, Curtis Gambrel, and Robert Gambrel; sisters, Nicey Woodward, Hassie North, Hazel Hopkins, Martha Jean Gray, Virgie Ramsey, Dorothy Watkins, and Bertha Gambrel; and special niece, Magaline McGeorge.

Ruby is survived by her children, Gary Hensley of Seneca, South Carolina, Yvonne and Jimmy Hurst of Middlesboro, Teresa and Doug Wilder of Pineville, and Earl Dean Hensley of Calvin, Kentucky; grandchildren, Nicole and Aaron Hatfield, of Middlesboro, Annette and Adam Smith of Harrogate, and Beverly and Joseph Lawson of Middlesboro; great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Logan Miracle of Harrogate, and Alyssa Smith of Harrogate; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thankyou to the staff of Tri State Health and Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion while caring for Ruby.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Miracle presiding. Burial will follow at the Mathel Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
