Ventured to San Diego, California to pursue stock car racing

Joined and served in the United States Navy 9 years

After leaving the USN, began his education in pre-med at Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, TN

Graduated with "Honors" University of Tennessee at Memphis

Residency and Internship at Baptist Hospital, Nashville, TN

Began and continued his Family Practice in Harrogate, TN 1962 to

The first 16 years of his practice included delivery of 3000 newborns, then limited his practice to Pediatrics to Geriatrics until his retirement in February 2012

Served in the United States Air Force 11 years

Served in the United States Air Guard 4 years

Retired as Lieutenant Colonel

Served on the Claiborne County Board of Education 40 years

Dr. Ellis was preceded in death by his Father, Roy C. Ellis, Sr.,

Mother Elizabeth Brown Hill.

Survived by: Brothers John F. Ellis (Tara) and Thomas H. Ellis (Dorothy) Daughters Kari Ellis Masoner (Jim), Deborah J. Ellis-Ayers (Pernell) and Sandra Ellis Taylor (Todd)

Sons Randall Robert Ellis, Kevin Louis Ellis and Step-son Travis Bailey (Lisa)

Nieces Debbie Ellis Towson (Bruce), Joni Ellis Sheppard (Bob), Barbara Ellis, Nephew John R. Ellis

Grandchildren: Mark Masoner, Kristian Masoner, Madison Chaise Taylor, Collin Ellis Taylor and Mason Carter Taylor, Jace Bailey, Jayla Bailey, and Jordyn Bailey

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Ellis Hoskins, Sr. Rev. Henry Lenoir and David Chesney. Visitation 4-8 Friday, March 2, 2012 at Cumberland Gap High School.
