Roy Wayne Cornelius, 71 of Pineville, passed away on October 28, 2022, at the Pineville Community Health Center. He was born in Pineville on September 2, 1951, a son of the late Roy Kenneth and Lucille Thomas Cornelius. Roy was a long-time member of the Laurel Hill Pentecostal Church. He had been an Engineer in the Coal Mines and in Construction. Roy was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Howard Lefevers.
Roy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Reta Sue Owens Cornelius; daughters, Kelly Cornelius, and Kim Cornelius; grandson, Wade Cornelius Phipps and his wife, Ashley; great-granddaughter, Kathryn Phipps and expecting great-grandson, Owen Phipps; sister, Patricia Lefevers; half-brothers, David Cornelius and Tim Cornelius; special niece and nephew, Joy Beth and Stacey and their families; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Cornelius and Prophet Michael Ferguson presiding. Music will be provided by Angie Saylor and Lisa Messer. Burial will follow in the Owens Cemetery in Barbourville, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Brandon Pratt, Jacob Pratt, Randy Smith, Rob Hanlon, John McKiddy and John Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe McGeorge, John McGeorge, Larry McGeorge, Keith Burnett, Tyler Teany, and members of the Laurel Hill Pentecostal Church.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Cornelius Family. Light a candle of remembrance and sign the guest register at www.arnettsteele.com.
