Ross E. Brittain passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Largo Medical Center Hospital, Largo, Florida. He was born on November 27, 1929 in Harrogate, Tennessee to Ross T. and Ollie K. Brittain, and relocated to Middlesboro, Kentucky with his family while in high school. He received a bachelor’s degree from Lincoln Memorial University, followed by service as an infantry soldier in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He moved to Florida in 1958 with his wife, Mary Helen (Howard) Brittain, who predeceased him in 2010 after 58 years of marriage. A career science teacher in Pinellas County, Florida, he attended post-graduate classes at the University of Georgia and earned a Master’s degree from Appalachian State University, Boone, NC. After retirement from teaching, he founded Ross E. Brittain & Associates Realty, a successful real estate brokerage company.

He is survived by his sons, David, Steven, and Richard Brittain. A fourth son, Daniel, predeceased him. He has four grandchildren, thirteen nieces and nephews (three of whom predeceased him), and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Above, all, he was a beloved husband, father, and teacher who will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 24, 2018 at from 11AM until 1PM with funeral services to follow at 1PM in the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel, Harrogate, Tennessee with Pastor Joe Howard officiating.  Burial will follow in the Scott Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Bayside Community Church of God at its address above.
