Rodney Dean Middleton, 50 of Harlan, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the Harlan ARH. He was born in Pineville on July 2, 1971, a son of Mary Johnson Middleton and the late Eddie Dean Middleton. Rodney loved to fish, he never saw a stranger, loved everyone, and helped everyone he could. He had a loving heart and loved to talk to anyone around him. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Jack and Elizabeth Hobbs Johnson; paternal grandparents, Levi and Nancy Ashball Middleton; maternal great-grandparents, Jim and Debbie Hobbs Slusher and Marshall and Mahalia Johnson; paternal great-grandparents, Ludie and Dave Middleton; Step-grandmother, Etta Lee Howard; aunts and uncles, Betty Clendenen, Margie Johnson, Jean Fajaka, Dan Middleton, Claude Johnson, Willie Johnson and Otis Johnson. Rodney is survived by his mother, Mary Johnson Middleton; grandmother, Elizabeth Hobbs Johnson; aunts, Frankie Ellahi, Virginia Hatfield, Robin Lindsly, Sandra Middleton, Rosemary Middleton, Darlene Middleton, Betty Jo Johnson, and Margie Johnson; uncle, Estil Middleton; special family member, Ruth Drew; special friends, Rosa Fields, Renee Doan, and Johnny Ray Slusher; and a host of other relatives and many friends. Services will be at 4:00 PM on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. David Howard presiding. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men and Women of Frontier Behavioral Center. Burial will follow at a later date in the Tackett Hill Cemetery in Hulen. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Middleton Family.
