Rodney Baker

Rodney Baker, 77 of Speedwell, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the Middlesboro ARH. He was born on February 1, 1946, a son of the late Solomon Baker and Edna Baker Harville. Rodney had been a coal miner in Brownies Creek, an equipment operator, and hauler for Ralph Spade Construction. He was an avid hunter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Laura Goodin Baker; and sister, Betty Hembree.

Rodney is survived by his daughter, Melissa Brooks and her husband, Brian; grandchild, Jessie and Austin York; great-grandchild, Magnolia York; special nephews, Brian Baker and Barry Baker; siblings, Larry Dean and Christine Baker, Solomon and Vivian Baker, Jr., Judy and David Hendrickson, Ida Mae and Dan Elliott, and Dallas and Suzy Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2023, at the Smith Hill Cemetery in Clear Creek. Pallbearers will be Brian Baker, Brandon Baker, Barry Baker, Wilder Irvin, Adam Elliott, and Christopher Elliott.
