Robert Marvin “Bob” Wilson, 91, of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at his home. He was born in Four Mile, Kentucky on September 25, 1931, one of eleven children of the late Richard Edison “R.E.” and Bertha Hopkins Wilson. Bob was a member of the First Christian Church of Pineville, where he was an Elder, and was retired from Bell-Whitley Community Action Agency, where he was Director of Personnel. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country in the Korean Conflict and the Cold War.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Wallace Wilson, Frances Smith, Iris Osborne, Richard “Dick’ Wilson, James “Jim” Wilson, Harold Wilson, Otis “Chub” Wilson, and Edward Riley Wilson. Bob’s sister, Greta Barett passed away the day after he did.
Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Judy Crockett Wilson of Pineville; son, Robert “Butch” Wilson, Jr. of Pineville; daughter, Nancy Thorton and her husband, Keith, of Clinton, Tennessee; grandchildren, Robert “Robbie” Wilson, III and his wife, Virgie, John Stokes, and Maggie Stokes; sister, Ernestine Stanley of Tullahoma, Tennessee; and a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 5:00 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the First Christian Church of Pineville with Rev. Jerry Combs officiating. Music will be by Ginny Fraley. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at the Pineville Memorial Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday at the First Christian Church of Pineville.
