R.L. Lawson

R.L. Lawson, 89 of Beverly, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at home in Beverly. He was born in Beverly on July 22, 1937, a son of the late Rant and Bertha Knuckles Lawson. R.L. was a witty man who loved to joke and have a good laugh. He was a good, solid man who loved his friends and his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. R.L. enjoyed fishing and hunting, was a man of Faith, and had been a coal miner.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughters, Latrisha Lawson and Pamela Baur; sister, Lydia Saylor, and brother, Robert Edward Lawson.

R.L. is survived by his children, Tonya Lawson and Ronald Lawson; sister, Beulah Mae Brock; special nephew, Douglas Lawson; special friends, Malcolm Asher, Doyle Brock, William Goodin, and Bobby Sizemore; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Mr. William Goodin presiding. Burial will follow at the Knuckles Cemetery in Beverly. Pallbearers will be Doug Lawson, Zan Dick, Cayden Lawson, William Goodin, Malcolm Asher, and Doyle Brock. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Day and Aedyn Day.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Lawson Family.
