Ricky Hayden Murrell, Sr.

Ricky Hayden Murrell, Sr., 50 of Middlesboro, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born in Apopka, Florida on December 8, 1975, a son of the late Robert Murrell and Martha Huddleston Murrell. Ricky was a believer in the Baptist faith and did his best to be a good father. He had been a truck driver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather who raised him, John Murphy; brothers, Chester Murrell, Gary Lynn Murrell, and Michael Murrell; and special nephews, Little David Murrell, Jr. and Sean Manuel.

Rickey is survived by his son Ricky Murrell Jr. and significant other, Rebecca Nickleson; daughter, Makala Murrell; bonus grandchildren, Kaylee Wilson and Brooklyn Nickleson; mother of his children, Anne Knoblock Murrell; brothers, Robert Edgar Murrell, David Wayne Murrell, and Scott Murrell; sisters, Dorothy Ann Barks, Linda Gail Manuel, Sandy Marie Murrell, and Diane Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Private services were cared for by Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Murrell Family.
