Rev. Sam B. Smith

Rev. Sam B. Smith, 85, passed away on Monday, may 14, 2018 at his home in Corbin, surrounded by his family. Sam was born in Jenson, Kentucky to the late Irvin and Sudie Smith. A graduate of Cumberland College, he was an ordained Baptist Minister and pastored many churches in the local area. Sam was also a US Army Veteran having served in Korea. In addition to his Parents, he was preceded in death by a Grandson, Timothy David Smith; and by his Sisters, Dorothy Boyne and Betty Mullersman. Sam is survived by his Wife, Rita Sue Grace Smith; Son, Doron Smith and wife, Sheila; Grandchildren, Carissa, Katherine, Melody, and Matthew Smith; Sisters, Rae Woody and Arlene Huxtable; and by several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 18, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Albert Jones, Rev. William Boyd Bingham, III, and Rev. Wayne Grace officiating. Burial will be in the Gray Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
