Rev. Walter Saylor

Rev. Walter Saylor, 68, of Kettle Island, passed away on February 12, 2014 at Oak Tree Hospital ICU in Corbin due to a short term illness. He was born on January 12, 1946, a son of the late Squire and Mossie Saylor. He worked for Straight Creek Coal Company and Star Construction. He was a previous pastor at Stoney Fork Pentecostal Community Church and a member and deacon at the Light House Trinity Pentecostal Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sol Saylor. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Audrey Bullins Saylor; son and his wife, Robbie and Kristy Saylor of Tazewell, TN; daughter and her husband, Andrea and Lenice Cox of Pineville; granddaughter, Samantha 'Mant-Mant' Cox; brothers, Joe Saylor, Lester (Louise) Saylor, Reed Saylor and Stanley (Lou) Saylor; sisters, Shirley Brock, Charlotte Mahurin, Bonnie (Mark) Mahurin and sister-in-law, Phronia Saylor; special friends, Ollie Stewart, Hazel Hatmaker, Tony and Sue Saylor, Belinda and Faye Cox, Paul and Audrey Bailey. Special thanks to Central Baptist Neuro ICU Nurses and the Oak Tree ICU Nurses and Staff. Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Darrell Lowe, Rev. Mark Mahurin and Rev. James Tenney. Music will be by Shannon Mahurin, Mark Mahurin and Paul Bailey. Burial will be in the Bullins Cemetery at Kettle Island. Pallbearers will be Tony Saylor, Mark Saylor, Joey Saylor, Shannon Mahurin, Larry Allen Bullins, Clifford Lane, Justin Stewart and Josh Kuth. Junior pallbearers will be Blake, Tyler, Bradley, Madison and Scott. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 until 9 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Saylor Family.
