Rev. Arnold Alonzo Petrey

Rev. Arnold Petrey, age 78, of Warren Camp Road, Barbourville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 at his home. He was born on April 21, 1936 in Whitley County, Kentucky to the late James Petrey and Mary (Davis) Petrey. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Ollie Sears, Gladys Prewitt and Sarah Bell Lovitt and his brothers, Raymond Petrey and Maynard Petrey. Arnold was a member of Ebenezer (Buckeye) Baptist Church. Arnold pastored many churches including Highland Park Baptist Church, Big Poplar Baptist Church, Little Poplar Baptist Church, Ebenezer Church and Smokey Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Arbedella (Sims) Petrey of Barbourville, Kentucky; one son, Timothy Arnold Petrey of Barbourville, Kentucky; one grandson, Braden Arnold Petrey of Barbourville, Kentucky; two sisters-in-law, Marteal Martin of Dry Ridge, Kentucky and Priscilla Grabow (Frank) of Florence, Kentucky; five brothers-in-law, Alex Sims (Roberta) and Beechie Sims (Mary Lou), all of Barbourville, Kentucky, Terry R. Sims (Crickett) and Delbert A. Sims, all of Cincinnati, Ohio and Ronnie L. Sims of Nashville, Tennessee; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Croley Funeral Home in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Bays and Rev. Lee Mahan officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Sharp-Floyd Cemetery in the Meadow Creek Community of Rockholds, Kentucky.
