Ray Reed, 89, of Pineville, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at his home. He was born in Roark, KY on November 20, 1921, a son of the late Boyd and Abbie Napier Reed. He was a member of Jacks Cree, Evangelical Church and had faithfully attended Greasy Creek Baptist Church. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Radar Technician in Panama. He had been a teacher at Lone Jack High School for many years, teaching History and Spanish. He had served on the Kentucky Farm Bureau Board of Directors and had retired from the Bell County Conservation District Board after being a member for over 30 years. Ray loved to fish and enjoyed gardening, cattle and hay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded In death by a sister, Eula Goodin. Survivors include his wife of many years, Beulah Thompson Reed; children, Keith Reed and wife, Tammy and Donna Reed; grandchildren, Dustin, Meagan and Austin Reed; brothers and sisters, Roy and Sophia Reed of Lebanon, OH; George Reed of Columbia, KY; Lula Cheatam of Columbia, KY; Beulah and Herb Baker of Hodgenville, KY; Ross Reed of Roark,; Russell and Lena Reed of Roark and Lola and Lloyd Asher of Roark, sister-in-law, Susan Faulkner of Barbourville and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
