Ray Lankford

Ray Lankford, 85, of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his home. He was born in Fields, KY on November 15, 1938, a son of the late Willie and Winnie (Hunley) Lankford. Ray was a hard working man starting to work in the coal mines at the age of 9 years old.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Lonnie Ray Lankford and Johnny Dale Lankford; brothers, Russel Lankford, Curtis Lankford, Sherl Lankford, Coye Lankford and Leroy “Junior” Lankford; grandson, Johnny Duane Hobbs and sister-in-law Sheila Lankford.

Ray is survived by his daughters, Sharon Kaye Anderson, Roxie Yvonne Johnson and Crystal “Shag” McDonald (Arnold), Bridgett Elaine Dixon and Deborah Anita Saylor; special niece, Sam Smith; brothers and sisters, Ulysess Lankford, Cillis Gene Lankford and wife, Dale, Joyce Helton, Wanda Morrison and husband, Leonard and Patsy Heath and husband, Lamar; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Wagner and Rev. Harold Sutton officiating. Music will be by the Warwick Family and Lisa Kersey and Emma Price. Burial will be in the Lankford Cemetery in Four Mile, KY. Pallbearers will be Cillis Gene Lankford, Curtis Lankford, Harry Lanford, Curtis William Lankford, Calab Lankford, Chesten Anderson and Nichols Anderson.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 22, 2024, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville. Arnett & Steele is honored to serve the Lankford Family.
