Ralph Hershel Robbins, III, 52, of Ghent, KY passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born in Pineville on September 11, 1963, and was the son of Rachel Johnson Robbins and the late Ralph Hershel 'Herky' Robbins, Jr. Ralph had been an employee of Kentucky Utilities for 33 years. He worked at the Power Plant in Ghent, where he was currently the Production Supervisor. He was an avid outdoorsman or 'Nature Guy' as his grandson Peyton, called him. He loved fishing, kayaking, camping and hunting. He was saved on October 5th, 1973 at Hosman Baptist Church during a youth revival. He was currently a member of the Ghent Baptist Church. Ralph was a devoted grandfather to his 6 grandchildren. He enjoyed giving their mothers a scare, as he did things like teaching them how to make torches and taking them speeding off on the lake in his bass boat. He always encouraged his grandchildren to enjoy the outdoors and to excel in their education and life. He was preceded in death by his father, and leaves behind his mother, Rachel Robbins of Pineville, KY; his two daughters, Brandi (Josh) Thomas of Tazewell, TN and Kristy (Nick) Brummett of Pineville, KY; his six grandchildren, Elijah, Jake and Katelyn Thomas and Makayla, Peyton and Paisley Brummett; brother, David (Brenda) Robbins; nieces and nephews, April and Ralph Robbins, IV, of Lakeland, FL. Very special friends include, Troy (Kathy) Bickers; Barry (Becky) Smith; Rodger (Brenda) Platt, along with his extended KU family who are too numerous to count. He will be dearly missed and remembered forever by all his family and friends. Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Spicer. Music will be by Sheila Lewis and Amanda Jones. Burial will be in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery . Pallbearers will be Troy Bickers, Roger Platt, Dave Dapron, Barry Smith, Ron Perkinson and Josh Glacken. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 until 9 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Robbins Family.
