Phyllis Louise Sanders

Phyllis Louise Polly Sanders, 79 of Arjay, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, in Corbin. She was born on Black Mountain in Harlan County, on December 18, 1946, a daughter of the late Levi and Emily Parish Polly. Phyllis was a believer in the Baptist Faith and was saved at an early age at the Arjay Missionary Baptist Church, where she was also a member. Phyllis was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved serving her church and volunteering. She had retired from the Walmart Vision Center, where she had worked for over 21 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Donald Ray Sanders, and her sister, Ruth Sanders.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Donna and Danny Miracle, Tammy and Donald Miracle, and Gwendolyn Sanders; grandchildren, Jessica Orick, Jake Miracle, Jared Miracle, Chandler Miracle, Jasmine Miracle, Emily Mullins Amber Mullins, Nicolas Mullins, Hailey Mullins; great grandchildren, Matthew Robertson, Camryn Miracle, and Kayden Gidens; brother, Clarence Polly; special “sister”, Sue Ann Messer; a host of in-laws, nieces, and nephews, whom she loved very much; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Sanders and Rev. John Hall presiding. Music will be provided by Teresa Miracle, Samantha Miracle, Macie Beason, and the singers of the Old Cannon Creek Choir. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 AM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home on Saturday to go in procession to the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 AM graveside service. Pallbearers will be Jake Miralce, Jared Miracle, Chandler Miracle, Nicolas Mullins, Matthew Robertson, and Sean Frost.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made toward the funeral expenses.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 PM until the funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Sanders Family.
