Paul Saylor, 78, a resident of Martinsville, passed from this life surrounded by his loving family at 6:04 am on Friday, March 10, 2017. He was born on March 4, 1939 in Kettle Island, Kentucky where he lived his entire childhood; one of ten children born to the late Otis and Della (Smith) Saylor. In 1959 Paul moved to Indiana, where he lived the remainder of his life raising his family and becoming a successful businessman. In 1977, he became business partners with two other gentlemen and opened Matchless Machine and Tool Company in Martinsville. Paul was a co-owner of the company for 33 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the V.F.W., both in Martinsville. The year 1977 proved to be a good year for Paul in business and in his personal life, as that was the year he also met his soulmate and future wife, Donna (Sichting) Saylor; the two were married after nearly eight years of courtship on August 8, 1986. Paul and Donna shared 31 years of marriage, friendship and all around fun, raising their seven children, hunting together, making wine, fishing, riding 4 wheelers in Kentucky, and much, much more. Paul was also known to be an exquisite story teller and master supervisor of any task, who loved the outdoors and his grassroots in Kentucky. He leaves behind an untouchable legacy and many friends and family who will miss him deeply including his wife, Donna Saylor of Martinsville; children, Debbie Parsons, Darrell (wife, Barb) Saylor, Darlene Saylor, David (wife, Gina) Saylor, Amy (husband, Brad) Crowe and Annette Rohlman all of Martinsville and Amanda (husband, Lance) Culver of Tomball, TX; siblings, Anna Lou Jett of Indianapolis, Charles (wife, Marsetta Saylor of Flat Lick, KY, Ovie (wife, Elaine) Saylor of Franklin, IN, Barbara Sue (husband, Bob) Hipps of Platte City, MO, Helen (husband, Richard) Terry of Martinsville, Hershel (wife, Debbie) Saylor of Greenwood, IN, Roland (wife, Charlene) Saylor of Martinsville and Rebecca Saylor of Franklin, IN; brother-in-law, Eagle Osgathorpe; nineteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Osgathorpe and a brother-in-law, Tom Jett. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, March 13th from 4-7:00 pm at Hoosier Harvest Church, 4085 Leonard Road, Martinsville and from 2-4:00 pm on Tuesday at the Millcreek Baptist Church in Pineville, Kentucky. He will be laid to rest following a graveside service in Ben's Branch Cemetery in Stoney Fork, Kentucky at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.
