Paul A. Asher

Paul A. "Boxcar" Asher, 63, of Clear Creek passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard. He was born in Red Bird, KY on December 6, 1954 and was a son of the late Alex and Alice Brummett Asher. He was a member of both the Green Camp Pentecostal Church and Harvest Time House of Prayer. Paul was a hard worker that wasn't afraid to use his hands, and had been a coal truck driver and a mechanic for different coal companies for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Rufus, Haley, Foister, Earl, Wilkerson, Douglas, Cecil, Harvey and Hozal. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Fuston Asher; children, Caroline Rice and husband, Ernie, Paula "Punkin" Frye and husband, Jamie, Luke Asher and wife, Tabitha, and Peggy Frye; grandchildren, Anthony Rice, Jamie Paul Frye, Felicia Rice, Leslie Asher, Katlyn Frye, Makayla Rice, Leah Asher, Isaiah Barnett, Rachel Asher and Taya Barnett; brothers and sisters, Edna Guerra, Mitchell Asher, Stanley Asher, Roscoe Asher, Hazel Taylor, Rosie Davison, and his twin brother, David Asher; a special friend, Chelsie Frazier Frye; "special brother and sidekick", Bobby Fuston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 21 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Wagner and Rev. Jimmy Johnson. Music will be by his brother, David Asher, Curt Scott and Julie and Gary Wagner. Burial will follow in the Gibson Cemetery at Clear Creek with Jamie Paul Frye, Anthony Rice, Jamie Frye, Isaiah Barnett, Ernie Rice, David Barnett and John Matt Golden serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 until 9 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to be serving the Asher family.
