Patrick John Butterbrodt

Patrick John (P.J.) Butterbrodt, 27, beloved son of Patricia (Patsy) and John Butterbrodt, passed away on June 19, 2014. A graduate of Jacksonville Marine Institute, P.J. was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville and a member of St. John's Cathedral.

A big-hearted and generous soul, P.J. loved animals and was fiercely loyal to his family and a close circle of friends. He had a particularly special relationship with his nephew, Kodi, to whom he endeared himself with endless patience, attention, horseplay and good humor. P.J. enjoyed music, reading, especially classics and fantasy novels, and wrote poetry. He worked as an electrician.

P.J. was predeceased by uncles Andy Groth, Tom and Dennis Butterbrodt, and his best friend and brother of the heart, Shawn Rice. He is survived by his parents of New Tazewell, TN, brother Michael (Mikey), nephew Kodi, grandmother Irene Groth of Clearwater, FL, honorary aunt Judi Rosenvold, girlfriend Racheal Cannon, and a host of loving friends and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at Saint John's Cathedral, 256 East Church St., Jacksonville, Florida, Friday June 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center "ARC Program," 10900 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32246, or to the music ministry of St. John's Cathedral.
