Edith Opalee Jones Brooks went to be with the Lord on Oct 8, 2010 at the Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. She is now with her husband of almost 50 years, 'Junior', who preceded her to heaven in November 2004.

Opalee was born on Oct 31, 1927 in Ewing, VA and lived most of her life in the Big Spring Union community of Harrogate, TN. She leaves behind many family and friends who will miss her dearly. Her loving spirit, commitment to her family and church and selfless giving of herself will always be an inspiration to those that knew her.

Family includes: two sons and their wives - David and Vickie Brooks of Bradley, SC; Gary and Kathy Brooks of Charlotte, NC; 3 grand children - Austin, Logan and Dylan Brooks of Charlotte, NC; two brothers: Lewis Jones, Jr. of Toledo, OH and James Roscoe Jones of Vinton, VA; 1 sister - Jessie Hounshel of Vallonia, IN and 1 sister who was already waiting for her in heaven - Cleo Jordan; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also temporary Mother to several foster children over the years.

In addition to her husband and sister, she is also preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Augusta Minter Jones.

The family will receive friends at the Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel in Harrogate, TN on Sunday, Oct, 10, 2010 from 6 - 9 pm. Funeral services will be at the Big Spring Union Baptist Church, Harrogate, TN on Monday, Oct, 11, 2010 at 11 am followed by burial in the Jones Cemetery, Ewing VA. Larry Carmen officiating. Music by the Church Choir

Pallbearers include: Kenneth Brooks, Basil Brooks, Troy Marsee, Ronnie Napier, Ricky Turner.

The family wishes to thank the many loving folks at the Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility for their compassionate care during her stay there.
