Opal Hoskins

Opal Cheek Hoskins, 80, of Balkan passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Pineville Community Hospital. She was born on October 7, 1934 at Broadtree, the daughter of the late R.A. and Mary Elizabeth Hoskins Cheek. She had been a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 53 years, Hubert Hoskins; four sisters and five brothers. Survivors include her children, Judy (Tim) Carter; Donnie (Ann) Hoskins; Liz (J.R.) Boatright; Gary (Jenny) Hoskins; Johnny (Almo Jackson) Hoskins; Sharon (Jimmy) Ayers; Josie (Scott Wilder) Mills and Hubert Jr. Hoskins; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; brother Claude Cheek; sisters, Lucy Jackson; Ethel McCann and Marie Meece, special friend, Mike Scalf and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at the Balkan Cemetery with Rev. David Givens. Following Opal's request, she was cremated at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Hoskins Family.
