Opal Jackson Asher, 78 of Arjay, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. She was born in Harlan on August 25, 1944, a daughter of the late Collum and Isabella Kelley Jackson. Opal was a believer in the Pentecostal Faith, a member of the Green Camp Pentecostal Church, and had been a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Ricky Jackson and Dennis Jackson; brothers, John Jackson, Ed Jackson, Roger Jackson, and Jerry Wayne Jackson; and sisters, Nancy Faye Mason, Delores Cornelius, and Ruth Jackson.
Opal is survived by her husband of 52 years, Roy Asher; children, Kenneth Jackson and wife, Marilyn, Danny Jackson and wife, Teressa, Judy Rice and husband, J.C., and Russell Asher and wife, Rhonda; daughter-in-law, Angela Jackson; brother, Earl Jackson; sisters, Grace Holland and Judy Sizemore; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 19, 2023, at the Green Camp Pentecostal Church in Arjay with Rev. Gary Wagner presiding. Music will be provided by the Green Camp Pentecostal Church Family. Burial will follow at the Brummett Cemetery in Sims Fork with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 PM until the funeral hour at the Green Camp Pentecostal Church.
