Odessa Baughman Butler born June 17, 1917 to William and Sally (Goins) Baughman of Pineville, Kentucky, who preceded her in death. She departed this life on April 23, 2009 at her home in Southfield, Michigan. Odessa united herself with the church and God at an early age. Odessa finished her early education in Pineville, KY. She attended Kentucky State College, where she earned her B.S. Degree. She also attended Washington Technical Institution where she earned her Associate in Applied Science Degree. She received her Master Degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Odessa was a teacher and counselor for high school and college students in Woodruff, SC, Barbourville and Middlesboro, KY. She was employed as a secretary and supervisor for the Research Geological Department of the Interior Department of the US Government. Throughout her life she was devoted to her family and friends. She also donated to many various charitable organizations. Odessa was married to Eugene Butler who preceded her in death. Also precedein her in death were her brother, Earl Baughman and her sisters, Ruth Smoot, Edith Hitson, Thelma Baughman and Maxine Gregory and nephew, Edgar Hitson. Odessa is survived by a nephew, Keith (Mary) Gregory of Michigan City, IN and a host of great-nieces and nephews.
