Norman Wayne Hoskins

November 8, 1955 — November 15, 2025

Tazewell

Rev. Norman Wayne Hoskins, 70 of Tazewell, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at his home. He was born in Harlan on November 8, 1955, a son of the late Carmel Hoskins and Georgia Fuston Hoskins Golden. Norman was a believer in the Baptist Faith and had been a member of the Goins Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed truck driving and had drove for England for over 25 years, as well as for Delaware Power and Apollo Fuel. He had been a pastor at Chenoa Baptist Church in Davisburg and loved to talk about the Bible and teach Sunday School.

In the eyes of his family, there was no one stronger or more steadfast than Norman. To those who loved him most he was a devoted husband, a proud dad, a caring father-in-law, a loving papaw and most recently, a great-papaw. To many others he was a dependable brother, a caring uncle and a loyal friend.

Norman believed in working hard to provide for his wife and family. For more than three decades he traveled millions of miles as an over-the-road truck driver, always giving honor to his Lord and Savior for every safe return home and every blessing.

He was a man of integrity – honest and straight forward yet his heart was tender and generous to those in need. He gave freely and asked for nothing in return. Above all, Norman lived his life for Jesus Christ. His faith wasn’t something he kept tucked away; he ministered the gospel of Jesus Christ with his words, his example and his steadfast commitment to love and help others. Though he will be deeply missed on this Earth, we rest in the truth of God’s word that ells us in 2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” Because of the saving grace of Jesus Christ, we hold tightly to the promise that we will meet again in our heavenly home. Until then… we’ll see you later.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Ethan Hoskins and Payton Hoskins; sister, Betty Jo Howard; and special friends, Harvey and Penny Bunch.

Norman is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Sue Gambrel Hoskins; sons and daughters-in-law, Norman Joseph and Sandy Hoskins and Jonathan Stacy and Crystal Hoskins; grandchildren, Madison Faith Hoskins, Hope Amelia Hoskins Gray and husband, Zachiarah, Kameron Rose and wife, Sierra, Karmillya Rose, Amarah Hoskins, and Aryah Hoskins; great-grandchildren, Parker Kate Rose, Jackson Rose, and Kaylee Ona Hoskins; brothers, Carmel and Jenia Hoskins, Jr., Julius Michael and Trina Hoskins, and John Matt and Pam Golden; sisters, Rosemary Shackleford and Vickie and Millard Brummett; special friends, Bud Tolliver, Randy Slusher, and Charles Campbell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Day and Rev. Kenneth Wayne Gambrel presiding. Music will be provided by Vickie Brummett, Arjay Baptist Church and Goins Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Brian Gambrel, Wayne Gambrel, Scott Gambrel, and Jeremy Gambrell.
