Norma Jean Akers, 88 of Pineville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 1, 2023. She was born on April 6, 1934, to the late Joseph Arthur and Pearlie Dean Akers in Pineville. She lived her entire life in Pineville with her family and beloved sister, Lora Helen Akers. Her family was the light of her life. Norma worked at the Fair Store in Pineville until the flood of 1977, then went to work at Dairy Queen where she retired from. She believed in the Holiness Faith and was a life-long member of the Church of God of Prophecy on Hendron Hill at Straight Creek.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles Edward Akers, Lester Akers, and Joseph (Joe) Akers, Jr.; two sisters, Viola Akers Harris and Lora Helen Akers; sister-in-law, Emma Akers; brother-in-law, Andrew Harris; and a nephew, Dennis Akers.
She leaves to mourn her passing her nephew whom she loved like a son, Joseph Allen Harris and his wife, Susan of Pineville; nieces, Debbie MacDonald and husband, Kevin of Florida, Suzy Kaltenthaler and husband, Charles of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Kelly Akers of Bethlehem; great nieces, Stephanie Warren and husband, Adam, Kryssy Kaltenthaler, and Lexi Owens; great-nephews, Joseph Harris and wife, Ashley, Andrew Harris and wife, Ashley, Steven MacDonald, Chaz Kaltenthaler, CJ Owens; great-great nieces and nephews, Alexis Blakely Wise, Jaxson Adam Warren, Ava Grace Harris, Maddox Joseph Harris, Maverick Carson Harris, and Peyton Andrew Harris; sister-in-law, Norma Sue Akers; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Bishop Custer Watts and Bishop Allen Lord presiding. Music will be provided by Martha Williams. Burial will follow at the Pineville Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Hubbard, Curt Akers, Thomas Akers, Darrell Akers, Joseph Harris, II, and Andrew Harris.
