Mona Seeta Kay Baker Dickerson, wife of Wayne Martell Dickerson quietly completed her earthly journey on February 2, 2022. We are grateful that she is at peace and home with the Lord, and her loving mother (Martha), sweet sister (Jessie), strong brother (Ronald) and beautiful great granddaughter (Nevaeh). She was born at Berea College Hospital on March 28, 1952. She and Wayne lived in Louisville, Kentucky and Arizona (briefly) but moved to Jack’s Creek, Kentucky in the summer of 1979 where she resided until her passing. She loved the Appalachian Mountains, the Appalachian people and her special home they built on her mountain. She attended several universities, but her favorite was Hazard Community College where she pursued a degree in creative writing. At the time of her passing, she was writing a book titled “Red Bird; The River, The Mountains and The Mission”. Mona Seeta was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Slusher Montgomery, sister Jessie Lou Robinson, brother Ronald Duane Baker, and great grandchild Nevaeh Marie Harris. Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband Wayne Dickerson, her daughter Tonya Dickerson Asher (Malcom), her sons, Jason A. Dickerson (Christy), Aaron W. Dickerson (Jennifer), and special grandchildren, Kelsey, Kasey, Madeline, Emma, Jacey, Addison, Joe, and Zeke, and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Darrell Cranston Baker (Jean), Edward Ray Montgomery (Marjean), and Terry Lane Montgomery. Terry and she had a special bond and they both lived on the homeplace for many years. She was very close to her sister-in-law Sidney Ann Baker, favorite nephew Gregory Allen Robinson, and relative Patsy Baker. Special life long friends, Morris and Myra Walters, Brad and Debbie Dayvolt, and several special nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. Mona Seeta Kay had a big heart and was always willing to help others. She treated everyone she met with great compassion. She was a Master Gardener, avid reader and enjoyed listening to National Public Radio. She has a strong interest in human rights, and it is appropriate she passed during Black History Month. The receiving of friends will be from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Jack’s Creek United Methodist Church on Sunday February 6th, 2022. A private memorial service for the family will be at 3:30pm with Randy Wilson officiating.
